this is a long awaited release on theomatic from a russian-born (now czech-based) house-quartet d-pulse. this definitely should have happened before as all d-pulse members and theomatic’s commander andrei zakharov (an-2) are fellow-townsmen and have known each over many years. d-pulse are known for their expressive live performances (guitar, bass and keys), everything you hear they play live and their unique vibe can shake any audience, be it hip moscow cuties or shy hick-town chicks. the band’s hectic schedule has put this ep on hold for several months, but at last guys managed to organize themselves and lay final touches to the production. the a-side is a mellow, spaced-out disco jam called ‘prekrasna’ - the russian for ‘beautiful’, especially when referred to ladies. the dancefloor-aimed ‘moments’ on the flip side starts off with hypnotic, dubbed-out guitar and atmospheric synths laid over fat house beat. it gradually leads to the breakdown followed by guitar driven blast-off and takes you to the orbital heights from wherever you are.

her remix of eero johannes >we could be skweeeerooos< on the b-side simply switches up the tempo of the original, makes the rhythm nice and bouncy and tightens up the original adding some trademark bent melodies and a see-sawing bassline. the end result is a linear, melodic track that feels like its somewhere between wiley and aphex at their sweetest.

quagmires third >artist ensemble< ep introduces the first four new artists to the labels roster. this quartet hails from dutch soil, william kouam djoko residenting in amsterdam as mical rhebess, pevanu and tim woestenenk living in the so called >backcorner< of east holland, near the german border. non of these young and talented producers released solo on vinyl before, which gives quagmire the absolute releasing debuts for these close friends of the label. william kouam djokos serialism repetition fills the complete logo side. this loopy bomb sucks you in a whirlpool of wet percussions and snareriffs. transitions are hardly recognizable and changing elements seem to continue. dynamic and delicate techhouse as never seen before on quagmire. tim woestenenks sunset love on the info side sets the elegant mood for this ep. microhouse in its purest form, stripped down to the most functional sounds. a big stab and a broken oriental stringinstrument give this track a incredible sense. timeless club music

vladislav delays first ambient album in over a decade. sasu ripatti is one of electronic musics most prolific and eclectic producers. throughout the last two decades ripatti has explored every imaginable genre with over 20 albums under aliases such as luomo and sistol. a classically trained percussionist, the finnish native has also performed as a part of the moritz von oswald trio and his own vladislav delay quartet.

this new album features the music of calypso in its many styles. included is music from its birthplace - the island of trinidad - as well as a number of other caribbean islands (including jamaica and the bahamas) and its subsequent onwards journey (britain, panama and the united states), recorded during the years 1955-69.

2012 album from the british indie rock quartet. ester neatly combines elements including the dream pop of beach house, the sweet nocturnal melancholy of the xx and the sonic exploration of my bloody valentine to form an album that s streets apart from any of its contemporaries. it s a great achievement that from the first listen makes it apparent that a lot of people are about to fall in love with this band.
